This wine’s saturated core gives it a brooding appearance. The nose is divided between fresh and developed flavors. On one side it shows black-currant leaf, bruised black plum and peppermint. On the other, it offers savory spice, grilled game and cigar. Medium-bodied, with lightly sinewy tannins and well-balanced yet pronounced acidity, this is the perfect bottling for the table. It has aged well thus far, but it still has its legs firmly beneath it drink through 2019.
