This wine has an inky core with a deep mulberry rim. The bouquet smells of damp earth and iodine along with anise and curry spices. The fruit flavors sit firmly in the mature camp, with stewed mulberries and dates bombarding the palate. Sweaty saddle notes also chime in. Dusty tannins and supporting, medium-plus acidity contribute just enough support to corral the wine’s full body. While its structure is correct, its flavor freshness is a bit lacking. Drink now through 2016.
