Very deep cranberry in color with black flecks throughout, this wine appears quite youthful. The nose initially smells fresh, though with air it begins to show signs of development. On the palate, the flavors range from boysenberry and black cherry to dry-aged steak and licorice. The tannins border on fierce with their grippiness and surprising intensity that hides the not insignificant medium-plus acidity. Definitely a wine for food, best enjoyed before 2018.
