Wowing in its dense blackness, this wine’s color is serious. The nose is moderately open in fruit notes yet driven by mineral and charcoal tones. The palate brings on lilac, black-plum skin, blackberry coulis and black-currant leaf. Full bodied but not heavy, this wine shows its smart winemaking. The tannins are, typically of the region, lightly drying on the finish. The supporting acidity lingers in the wings but helps elongate the medium-length finish. Drink now through 2016.
