This wine’s black core is accompanied by a small, roof-tile-red rim. The nose is advanced, with tobacco leaves, well-aged leather and barbecue spice. Mulberry, blueberry, blackberry and gunpowder contribute complexity on the palate. Rounded tannins allow this wine to be sipped with or without food, and the finish has moderate length. Moderately concentrated, this wine is ready to drink now, though its perky acidity will let it hang on through mid-2015.
