Massively inky in color, with a wee rim of mulberry, this wine has a boisterous nose. It smells of cherry cola, blackberry, coconut and cinnamon. As the nose suggests, the palate is quite candied. It strictly follows the wine’s aromatic exuberance, adding only a dimension of minerality. The full body integrates the medium-plus alcohol with ease and is supported by fairly supple tannins and refreshing acidity. This wine’s candied aspect may make it hit-or-miss with drinkers. Drink now through 2017.
