This wine’s vivid black core gives way to a tiny cherry rim. The nose is unapologetically reserved, showing only the barest hints of minerals. Flavor-wise, the wine is equally controlled, yet it is possible to suss out charcoal, blackberry, black currant and a hint of rosemary. Firm and rather unforgiving, the palate has strict tannins and medium-plus acidity. The short finish suggests this wine won’t have that much time to flesh out, and it lacks a bit of freshness. Drink through 2015.
