Opaque from the black core to the tiny but deep fuchsia rim, this wine has an imposing appearance. It smells of cassis, blackberries, licorice, cardamom and cedar. The black fruit flavors are lightly candied, but the wine is thoroughly dry. With solidly supporting acidity and downplayed tannins, this moderately complex wine is easy to sip and has a medium finish. It is sure to be a crowd-pleaser in casual settings with food. Drink through early 2016.
