This Shiraz is opaque and dark at the core with a small magenta rim. The wood influence entirely overcomes the rich fruit on the nose and shows notes of 2x4 timber, saw dust and char. Very pure and primal blackberry, boysenberry, black currant fruit and long-aged balsamic vinegar fill the palate. There is a tinge of candiedness that comes out with time in the glass that is less attractive than when the wine is first poured. Full bodied with measured tannins and supporting acidity, this wine can work at or away from the table but surely shows just a bit better with food.
