This Barbaresco is slightly orange-inflected, with a pale crimson color. Rose petals, rhubarb, well-aged balsamic vinegar and gingerbread entice the nose. The full-bodied palate is brightened by crisp acidity with pleasantly and lightly chewy tannins. There is plenty of structure to mitigate the wee hint of succulence from this ripe vintage. This is a vinous wine for Old World wine lovers. Smart, balanced and drinkable now through 2016, this drinks well with or without food. Buy a case and sample over several years.
