The wine is deep ruby in color, saturated enough to leave color on the glass. The aroma is coconut forward, then followed by caramel, cinnamon and fruit. The slightly desiccated fruit of black plum and cherry is pervasive, but met with dried violet. Pencil lead underscores the creamy-textured palate. Though the tannins are explosive and gritty, surprisingly, there is a freshness of acidity in the finish. This is a full-bodied wine whose nuances get somewhat lost in its broad brushstrokes. Shelf for five to 10 years.
