This wine is true to its youth in its deep, black-flecked color. Its youth also shows up in the wine’s vivid, untamed, rough-and-tumble tannins, which are further emphasized by its perky acidity. There is no evident new oak contributing to the equation, leaving the fruit to fend for itself. Though there are the typical Dolcetto notes of blackberry and spice, there is also a distracting, unpleasant earthiness. While this is an average Dolcetto, the usual drinkability of this variety is lacking.
