Limpid and dark burgundy in color with a jet-black core. The nose is bright with fruit-driven aromas dominated by blackberries and black-plum skin with old leather and tea-leaf notes infusing interest. The moderate body makes this a good wine by the glass. There is a whiff of toasted walnuts, honey and incense that nod to some older oak aging. The palate is refreshing with bright acidity, soft, pillowy tannins and a medium-length finish. This is a pretty and complex, yet seemingly midlevel wine, price-wise. An excellent value.
