This wine is tar black at the core with fresh aromas of black plum, dark chocolate and evergreen. The palate follows with more of the same, accompanied by licorice and black currant. It is firm in structure and notably high in alcohol. Tannins are choppy and lightly drying while the acidity works discreetly in the background to provide relieving, mouthwatering freshness. Flavors linger, adding an enticing damp forest-floor note on the finish. Served with a hearty meal, this should prove a bit more charming because of its fruit intensity.
