Opaque black at the core, this wine has an equally impressive and somewhat hard-edged nose of fresh graphite, charcoal and black plum skin. Somewhat corpulent on the palate with brash black fruit flavors, the tannins are crusty but show good definition. The acidity is lively and nicely aligned with the full body. The finish shows good length along with an undercurrent of dried tobacco leaves that adds some complexity. Overall, this has evolved nicely in bottle and is ready to drink now–2023.
