Near-opaque color, this wine has an elaborate and gutsy aroma profile. Its evolving bouquet echoes the palate. The palate tastes of Worcestershire sauce, savory garlic jam and oodles of barbecue spice. Dried black fruits creep in as the wine opens in the glass. Similarly turbo-charged in weight, this wine is heady and lightly prickly with alcohol. In fact, it smells like Port rather than a still, dry wine. However, there is a surprisingly well-balanced structure to support the hedonistic generosity. The baked flavors taste of black plums, Christmas jam and milk chocolate cocoa powder, and they all linger on the prolonged aftertaste. Drink now–2026.
