Hedonistic on the nose, this extravagantly ripe red smells of blackberries, black peppercorns, split vanilla bean pods and fresh coffee grinds. Voluptuous on the attack, the wine quickly turns bitter on the palate between the aggressive alcohol and fine but dusty and dry tannins. The flavors of confectionery, coffee and black current jelly show decent length on the palate, but the structure overwhelms any pleasure from the fruit. Drink now–2023.
