Strong whiffs of cassis and balsamic shoot from the glass. There’s a touch of volatility, but it is pleasant. The raucously bold, in-your-face, fruit-driven palate tastes of blackberry, black curran and black fig. The tannins are well-framed and the acidity is nicely lifting. While the upfront fruit display is impressive, the palate is straightforward rather than complex and the finish is fast. There is a pleasant, savory and iron-like note on the moderate finish that begs for attention. Drink now–2024.
