Dark and brooding in appearance, this vigorous wine has a serious nose of black cherries, dark chocolate and Vic’s Vapor Rub. The sturdy palate reveals coarse, stringy tannins that frame the medium-plus body. Some alcoholic warmth shows on the modest finish. The acidity is lifting, but between the very ripe fruits and tough structure, there isn’t much refreshment here. Black plum skin and prune are lightened by some caramel softness. Drink now–2024.
