The brooding nose starts off with cassis, boysenberry and slate. The full-bodied, lightly viscous palate continues with the same and adds allspice, candied mint and blueberry preserves. The wall of well-behaved, moderately drying tannins work in harmony with the lifting acidity. This is more of a hedonist’s style of Shiraz given the weight on the palate and creamy, extracted feel. Still, the modest finish suggests this is a wine for immediate to mid-term pleasure. Drink now–2023.
