Smelling of butter and popcorn, this wine starts off with classic Chardonnay aromas. The lusty palate delivers flavors of buttery pie crust, baked apple and sweet spice. Surprisingly, the medium-plus body is framed by rather tart acidity, and the combination is not entirely harmonious, with tertiary notes prevailing over fruit. The persistent finish, lovely ripeness and generous use of oak suggest this is a highly ambitious wine. Drink now–2024.
