Though ripe and jammy in aroma, this wine’s fruit flavors seem to be fading. Gruff tannins and crisp acidity nicely support the weighty mouthfeel. The waning palate tastes oddly flat without showing evident oxidation. While the generous succulence and moderate finish suggest this is a wine for the intermediate term or possibly beyond, it seems the fruit ripeness in this vintage was pushed too far. Drink up now–2023.
