Bursting with black fruit character, this full-bodied, densely concentrated wine almost vibrates with intensity. It is all upfront in its flavor, and the fruit-forward character is pretty brash. The palate is packed with black currant, fig, boysenberry, snapped twig and peat. The tannins are scraggly and mildly drying, and the acidity is medium but well-placed. Not quite a refreshing wine, but it can certainly handle a plate of barbecue. Drink now–2023.
