Dense ruby red with almost-black inflections and purple highlights. Vibrant slate aromas waft from the glass. The fruit notes are more brooding and covert at first, but surface as ripe black currants and blackberries. Suave tannins and marked acidity structure the generous body of this wine. Moderately viscous, with a creamy midpalate and a fairly long finish. Drink now–2018, and it may hold longer.
