Slightly hazy in its deeply-colored appearance, it takes some time to coax the aromas out of the glass. Eventually, some woodsy, meaty notes emerge with dried black plum and cassis fruits. The palate is similar, and it adds some savory spice. The alcohol is a tad punchy from start to lightly, fiery finish. Broad and firm tannins focus the palate while vibrant acidity cleans up the focused blueberry and black cherry flavors. This is a strapping red well suited to hearty meals. Drink now–2024.
