While forward and fruit-driven on the nose, this wine maintains an underlying mineral persistence on the palate. It shows delightful complexity in tones of roasted black plum, succulent black cherry, damp tree trunk, licorice and mocha. The tannins show a vague and tantalizing herbal bitterness, while the racy acidity extends the graphite notes on the long finish. The palate shows some distracting warmth, but with hearty fare, this would fade into the background. Drink now–2024.
