This brooding, dark red looks like it is laced with black threads. The aroma is enticingly complex, starting with black currant and singed bark then it morphs into boysenberry, sloe and cardamom with time. The palate feels bold, fullbodied and firm. The tannins are fine grained but verge on steely, while well-placed acidity lights up the back palate and pulls the fresh and lively flavors into a lingering finish. Pleasant now, this youthful wine may be even more delightful once it fully settles into the bottle. Drink now–2022.
