Forward and fragrant, this wine smells more developed than fresh. The nose offers a bitter black plum aroma, with accents of dry aged meat, peat bricks and creosote. The palate reveals more freshness than the nose, showing Marasca cherry, açai and a drizzle of pancake syrup. The initially caressing tannins combine with bracing acidity to give a tart, even sour, final impression as the dense fruit character quickly fades. Drink now–2020.
