Slightly murky in appearance, this wine is elusive on the nose. However, the palate lights up with well-ripened, char-fired plums and cherries, as well as perfectly tenderized and judiciously spiced red meat. This mid-weight red shows a pleasant suppleness between its boisterously fruited mid-palate, its suave tannins and its mild, well-integrated acidity. It has moved past its freshest days, but it’s cruising along nicely in middle age. Floral tones spruce up the medium, savory finish. Drink now–2020.
