This wine is raven black in color, with a cooper-infused, garnet rim. Its shy, guarded nose smells of gravel and camphor, seeming to nod at old school Bordeaux styles. The palate, however, is markedly juicier, boldly accessible in ripe forest fruits accented by meaty, gamy tones. It is a consequential and somewhat foursquare red, with smooth yet chunky tannins and a whisper of acidic lift. It’s sure to please, and would make a nice pick for a bistro menu. Drink now–2019.
