Fresh and youthful on the nose, this wine has loads of licorice and baked black-plum aromas. Tar and cedar follow on palate, accompanied by prunes and ultraripe blackberries. The full body is balanced by almost piercing acidity and pleasantly drying tannins. The pronounced structure and dark, pouty nature of the fruit makes it a wine for the table. It has moderate staying power on the finish, but it’s a rather straightforward array of flavors. Drink now–2018.
