This deep-colored wine has a ruby tinge from its black-flecked core to the mulberry rim. Moderately fresh in summer berry aromas, its entry is sapid and soft. The flavors of candied black cherry, anise, vanilla extract and gunpowder are immediately approachable. However, the palate is disjointed and a bit limp, with flabby acidity and creamy tannins. The draw here is the rich fruit character, which would show nicely with rustic meat dishes or country patés. Drink now–2018.
