Umbral in appearance at the core, this wine has a purple-inflected magenta rim. Its nose smells of wild boysenberries, blueberry preserves and damp forest floor. It is as intense on the palate as it is on the nose, with the flavors echoing the aromas. Dense, thick and viscous, with generous but well-balanced alcohol thanks to lilting acidity, this pristine, clean wine shows classy winemaking. The medium-length finish incorporates an exotic array of sweet spice, mirin and mulch. Drink now–2021.
