This wine has a shy, subtle nose, barely offering up hints of cedar, black peppercorn and black currant. The palate is firm and becoming dry in tastes of leather, beef jerky and tobacco leaf that dominate the black plum and sloe flavors. It’s a mightily acidic wine for such a full body and high alcohol, and the palate feels a bit disjointed heading into the medium-length finish. Best with food, this wine should work well with roasted game. Drink now–2018.
