This wine is near-opaque at the core, with scarlet lacing throughout its body. The nose is forward and enticing, though it’s only moderately fruit-driven, favoring exotic savory notes of rusting iron and hung game. There are plentiful flavors of ripe figs and plums doused with sweet baking spices, followed by a hint of roasted pecan on the medium-length finish. There are a lot of interesting dynamics here, but the wine it is somewhat discombobulated a more youthful version likely better showcased the wine’s supreme ripeness throughout. Enjoy before 2018.
