This wine is pitch black at the core, with a small mulberry-mahogany rim. Prune and boysenberry fill the exceedingly ripe nose. The palate is full bodied and almost clumsy with ripeness. Ponderous in weight, it is also awkward in structure, showing marked, feisty acidity and splintery tannins. The high level of ripeness leaves little room for fruit freshness, finishing short and rugged. It might go well with a stew.
