Monte Pío 2014   Albariño (Rías Baixas)

abv: 12.5 | Price Tier: $$

Pronounced yellow in color, all the way to the rim, this wine tastes rather evolved given its low notes of beeswax and flax seed. There are also hints of yellow field flowers and gooseberries on the nose. The palate is exceedingly exuberant, with evident carbon dioxide and pungent yet invigorating acidity. There’s an intense leesiness to the wine that suggests it spent some time in neutral barrels. This is a great food wine given its generous savoriness, and is best enjoyed now through 2018.
