Carbon black at the core, this wine smells of evergreen needles, black olives and black plums. Oak shines through on the palate, with notes of sweet spice, licorice and glazed walnut. Considerable extraction and glycerol coat every crevice of the palate. Moderate acidity and smooth yet dense tannins try to rein in the considerably gutsy palate. The finish is a bit sweet and cloying. It is a clean, modern, big and bold selection, best enjoyed now through 2018.
