Dark black at the core with a deep magenta rim, this wine smells vigorously youthful and generously oaked. Vanilla beans, brownies, baked pomegranate seeds and Christmas spices saturate the aromas. The palate is a bit strict, with firm tannins and acidity that walks a tightrope between invigorating and searing. The modest finish is chalky and saturated in black fruit flavors. It’s also starting to evolve, as evidenced by its sweet tobacco and supple leather notes. While there’s not a lot of flavor diversity, the good freshness and drinkability especially with food will land it many fans. Enjoy now through 2019.
