This rust-inflected wine shows it’s age, though the nose is surprisingly perky, showing a bouquet of fresh roses as well as anise, ginger snap and sweet cream. The palate turns savory, with flavors of North African spices, black raisins and plums. It also feels quite leathery as the fruits are starting to dry out and the tannins are turning a bit stringy. The medium-length finish is compelling and drawn-out by the lively acidity. Drinking well now, this will best suit those who like older wines.
