This wine is shrouded in a midnight black, mysterious-looking core. There are lovely, sweet black fruits on the attack: peak-of-summer plums and sweet, gooey blueberries. The mouthfeel is slightly warm with alcohol, but the overall structure—led by lightly chewy tannins—is nicely focused. There’s licorice, loganberry, with hints of fennel and aloe on the long and refreshing finish. Fresh and firm now, this wine might benefit from another six months in bottle. Drink now through 2019.
