Unforgivingly opaque appearance laced with black. The nose of rusting iron, grilled meat, blackberries and anise suggests layers of complexity. Vanilla and toast notes of oak integrate kindly with the other flavors. Full bodied and broad on the palate with minimal viscosity and a light prickle of alcoholic warmth. Medium-plus acidity and dusty, slightly coarse tannins offer firm structure. The lingering finish suggests this wine will drink well now and over the next four to five years, at least.
