Though this wine’s appearance is youthful, with a dense color and pitch-black core, its bouquet shows evolution. There’s a tasty, leathery tinge on the entry that morphs into tobacco leaf toward the back palate. Crushed, dried strawberries and ripe mulberries fill the palate. It’s at its peak now, with resolved, easygoing tannins and well-integrated acidity. It has the structure to hold, but its only moderate concentration means it doesn’t have the additional oopmh of further complexity to evolve further to benefit. Enjoy now through 2016.
