This is a seriously dark wine, with lightly glass-staining legs. The nose almost refuses to offer perfume, but the palate comes through, with deeply rich flavors of dried fig, prune and black currant. Damp forest floor, briar patch and toasted coconut all add nuance on the palate. Almost solemnly stern, this wine has a dry, modest finish that is best suited to rich dishes. While the tannins will round out a bit in time, the moderately concentrated fruit may begin to dry out in the interim. Drink now through 2017.
