This pours with a back core and a crimson rim. The aromas and palate show an old school winemaking approach, including an attractive earthy, animal streak. The somewhat flat palate has only modest fruit freshness, but there’s a nicely plump fruit core to help balance that out. Sweet spice, baked earth and cherry waft across the palate, while a layer of warm leather adds interest on the modest finish. The full body shows a touch of alcoholic warmth. This is easy drinking best now through 2016.
